A retreat in the midst of unspoilt nature
The hotel's own alpine hut "Kaser-Walseralm"
On the Alm, far away from everyday life, things are personal, warm and informal. Here, the focus is on socialising and laughing together while enjoying the freedom and unspoilt nature in good company. This is exactly how we locals experience life on the Alm – and this is exactly the feeling we pass on to our guests.
Fantastically idyllic location at 1,530 m
OUR "KASER-WALSERALM"
Nestled in the tranquillity of nature, surrounded by shady larch trees and the happy animals of our farm, who enjoy the summer on the lush alpine meadows, we like to take a break at our hotel’s own alpine hut during our hikes. Together with our guests, we serve a typical South Tyrolean snack with farm specialities such as bacon, smoked sausages and homemade farmhouse bread. A glass of refreshing Valle Isarco wine goes well with this, and as the crowning glory, one of our home-made schnapps is a must. The atmosphere is often so exuberant that we shake a leg and sing along to the traditional music. That’s South Tyrol: always up for a bit of fun and in the best of moods, closely connected with the people. Our South Tyrol is an endearing, cheerful land.
In moments like these, time seems to stand still, especially when Monika and her kitchen team conjure up culinary delights on the mountain pasture. Whether it’s alpine goulash, herb risotto, shepherd’s macaroni or smoked ham – everything is prepared with love and skill over an open fire or in the traditional wood-fired oven in the rustic farmhouse kitchen.
A very special highlight is Rogen’s Almabtrieb, the festive end of the grazing season. The animals of the Walserhof return from the alpine pastures to their home stables, accompanied by cheerful singing, laughter and the odd motivating Almjuchizer. Guests at the Natur & Aktiv Hotel Rogen can experience this centuries-old tradition up close and even actively help to show the animals the way. It’s no wonder that many guests have been booking their holiday at exactly this time for years, usually in the second week of October, to experience this incomparable event.
